    hotcopper42,

The IOCG systems from OD, PH and C are all hematite breccia hosted ore bodies.

They are basically a large hematite/magnetite system that has been extensively broken up into a breccia. Metal rich fluids have then moved through the system. The nature of the breccia allows for increased porosity and permeability and metals have been precipitated out of the fluid due to a change in either pH, structure, lithology (rock type) or chemistry.

Granites can be associated with IOCG deposits, could represent a potential fluid or/and metal source. Intrusive granites could also have provided a heat source to have 'driven' the whole system.

But the ore body itself is hosted in a hematite breccia. I would have to do some digging around in some publications on PH to find specific gravity and typical hardness, which is important to identify mining techniques.

But it is a typical 'hardrock' and would require blasting to be removed. Same as PH and OD.
