i read that to replace the output of the Fukushima nuclear plant with gas, would require 5mtpa of LNG. so thats what 1.5 - 2.0 trains.
but, i think other Japanese nuclear plants have been damaged, and even more have been shut down.
also one can expect that plans to build more nuclear plants in japan will meet with some resistence from the japanese people.
i understand that the Fukushima plant was due to be retired, but was recently granted a licence to keep operating for another 5 years. so one would expect that these older plants will simply be shut down asap.
i also read that japan already has spare capacity to generate electricity from LNG. if so, all it needs is the LNG supplies to get itself out of trouble s/term.
