I breathed a small sigh of relief when engagement reports started to trickle in from Libya this morning. US involvement appears to be strat missile hits and theatre co-ord. France appears to be major tac patrol player enforcing the no-fly zone.
My guess is the US business community won't consider actions to date as 'war'. While US boots remain off Libyan soil, QE1-2-n and the oil price remain much, much bigger factors in US sentiment.
But regarding oil... North Africa is not the Middle East. And this morning's events in Yemen are a totally different story. I rescinded that sigh of relief!
Saudi Arabia responded to Bahraini requests for troops to undertake policing actions. I don't know how Iran will see Saudi forces enacting a request from their Southern neighbour as well. Let's hope cool heads prevail.
