As I understand it, WATPAC has a small mining division in WA and its main business is in construction in the Eastern States.
It seems to be successful mining iron ore and as I understand it, it wants to expand in WA mining.
If it is seen to be screwing A1, then getting new contracts in WA will be more difficult. So it has good reason to succeed at Alpha. JW can be blamed for Beta, but I think the JORC for Alpha was done by GCR.
I do feel that A1 owes money to WATPAC and so until WATPAC is paid A1 board has to tread carefully. However WA is not a big pond, so if WATPAC charges are unreasonable then this will become known by the fairies (very quiet lately). Hence there is a check and balance here, if not an obvious one.
Bill Hobba has large shareholding, so his interest is aligned with mine. His mill was bought with A1 script ( at a deemed value of 30c I think), based on JW's JORC. It seems that he is holding.
It has been suggested that the mill is not running as well as indicated. I understand that when the mine was flooded, roads were cut and all staff were evacuated for safety reasons. ie I assume the mill was shutdown for a while. I dont know what is happening now, but assume it is up and running, or maybe they are waiting for Alpha ore before restarting the mill.
