snuff, god intervened when Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac. He didn't when Jephthah sacrificed his daughter. God expected him to fulfil his promise.

Samson prayed that he might be allowed to die with the Philistines. God strengthened him so that he could demolish the building. How was that not suicide? It was not defence at all, it was revenge - he actually prayed for vengeance, and god granted it.

Jesus said that not one jot or tittle of the law will ever be changed, and those who teach so will be counted amongst the lowest in heaven. Alternatively, the christian god is claimed to be unchanging. How can he be unchanging if huge chunks of the OT get thrown out and ignored? Why bother with the ten commandments?

My upbringing was non-religious. These are all my own opinions.

Your claim that there is no better ancient book when it comes to reliability is moot on two points. Firstly many of the Roman histories are far more accurate and verifiable than the biblical stories. Secondly, just because it hasn't changed in 2,000 years doesn't mean it was accurate in the first place. Sure, Isaiah may be accurate, but many of the other books found in the Dead Sea scrolls were not! Cherry picking at its worst.
