Engineering company Downer EDI Ltd (ASX:DOW) has been awarded a $60 million contract by OneSteel Manufacturing Pty Ltd to build a plant in South Australia.
Downer says the engineering, procurement and construction contract will see the company construct an iron ore benficiation plant, scheduled for completion by February next year.
Beneficiation treats ore to make it more suitable for smelting.
Last week Downer advised that it had secured $275 million of new contract wins, with Downer's share likely to be $140 million in revenue.
For the first half of the 2011 financial year Downer booked a net loss of $103.8 million.
