I'm in Sydney and my kids' preschool has Easter Egg hunts, a Christmas play and they often do stuff for other festivals - at least Chinese New Year that I know of but probably others. Out of about 50 families, ethnic background includes English Irish Greek Korean chinese Sri lankan Armenian Turkish Japanese Vietnamese. There are probably others I have not thought of.
And of course most are Australians with a few Kiwis as well
I am a Director of the school and we have never had a complaint about culturally inappropriate activities. I suspect a media beat up.
