Perhaps I am just ignorant but I do not understand how 'compensating' people for the carbon tax isn't defeating the whole purpose of the carbon tax.
If I am going to be compensated for the carbon tax where is the incentive for me to change MY behaviour. If I don't change MY behaviour, why would industry change THEIR behaviour. They are charging higher prices to offset the CT effect, and I am happy to pay the higher price because I am getting compensated for it.
I just don't get it. Perhaps someone with a clue can explain it to me?
