yes it's disgusting that such ridiculous orders can be placed in order to manipulate the depth. I believe that at the days end, the ASX removes any orders which have been placed on that particular day which are massively outside the trading price. This does nothing to stop orders being made again the following day.
Orders which were placed in prior weeks / months / years that were close to the trading price at that particular time remain.
