Hi Eagle, firstly, this is not my thread, I have no responsibility for the heading.

Secondly your postulation on renewable development seems to be relying on technology that hasn't been invented yet.

Solar and wind power is an order of magnitude greater in cost on a per Mwh basis and is inherently unreliable. Fine for small scale supplementary supply but fail for large power provision.

A utility will only seek to replace its existing and perfectly functioning power station with something else if the price it can sell the electricity at is equal or greater than the price of the coal/gas plant + carbon tax.

The carbon price will have to be SUBSTANTIALLY, I'm talking multiples, more for them to even think about this. Even if they did think of it, there is nothing except nuclear that can offer any hope of reliable 24/7 energy production. Basically noone is going to mothball a powerplant to build a field of windmills, there is no economic incentive for the producer, all the subsidies are going to the consumer.

You're in fantasy land. Just what is this renewable 'energy source' that this whole foundation relies upon?
