What you say is loosely correct...but options rarely trade on par with the fully paids, especially at the speculative end of town.
Until the strike price is passed, all options will trade at a premium, if for no other reason than they simply can't go below .001c
After the strike price is breached however, upside potential, or lack thereof, will have a huge impact on the prevailing price.
There are other things to consider, such as liquidity in both in the OFP's and options, likely corporate activity such as placements or rights issues, specific exercise dates, special conditions on the options, dividend dates, arbitrage, the nature of the options; were they free or paid for...and a whole host of other issues, all of which may have an impact on their performance.
Like I said, they can take some getting used to.
