I agree on your 5 points to reduce Gov expenditure. How ever, o have an issue with the first one, Private Health Rebate. The scheme was sold to the public on the basis that if you did not sign up buy a certain age you would pay a 2% higher premium for each year there after. Hence, I would like a rebate for my unsubsidised portion from 2000 until now. I fulfilled my part of the deal and buggered if I'm going to give the rebate up to fund a tax cut UNLESS it's only to reduce the 42c and above brackets. To be taxed 30c up to $80k is a basement bargain. There is no need to further reduce this bracket, it will only be at the expense of the 'rich'. I earn over $80k and don't 'enjoy' paying 45% of each trade in tax. My wife stays home. We don't sponge child care rebates, we get squat for family supplements etc, I pay double health care(private and public) and I get absolutely squat for affording my current home without EVER any 'help' with exempt stamp duties/home grants.
I agree with your other points. No hand outs for having children. Sure, my parents got what was called Child Endowment. They opened up an
account for each of us and deposited EVERY cent into it. We then got it towards a car or house. I wonder how many DIRECTLY use the hand outs for the children? Suppose some do, how else can the mommies afford the massive 4WD to pick up the kids LOL
By all means reduce income tax but top end only. The rest 'poor' people will soon be richer than me!
