    Hi Boofy

    Re your post which included;
    "...However, I don't believe that this pollution is irreparably damaging our atmosphere, and I've seen no proof that man-made C02 emissions have had any irreversible effect on our planet or our atmosphere that can be believed. Nature can't be beaten by humans and will always find a way.
    Taxing people under the guise of saving the planet is simply an easy way for governments to steal more money from the people."

    Thanks for the feedback - IMO a great post!

    I am one of those fortunate people to have toured China, experiencing everything from walking on the Great Wall to cruising the Yangtze & ogling the entombed warriors. IMO the quality of their atmosphere frightens even the Chinese! Pollution from their coal fired power stations & local industries has to be seen to be believed & it's not great to breathe either - as per the Olympics!

    Re 'Nature', having walked through the jungles of Mexico I acknowledge the regrowth etc that time delivers. However IMO the problem for us is that the ~7b & growing of US on this planet have to be able to survive what we are currently doing to it or many of us will ape the dinosaurs.

    IMO doubling our numbers every 50 years & using ever-more resources defies the finite nature of our planet.

    As for the Govt. introducing a great big new tax; as a self-funded retiree that GST still sticks in my throat & I would rather no more taxes at all - my preference is that we all accept our collective responsibilities, including our big polluters.

    However, IMO our big polluters have already had at least 50 years to mend their ways & it is way past time that we moved to technologies that better respect the environment. FWIW I am still haunted by Hazelwood PS's shocking pollution of the Latrobe Valley, by the decimation of the landscape around Queenstown due to copper mining & concerned that the next record Summer we have may see daily maximums beyond the liveable limits of many people.
