Just did some research, I'm normally too lazy, lol.
Anyways, here is what I found.

The S&P200 dropped from 6339.8 on 31/12/07 to
3722.3 on 31/12/08.

Newcrest, the Gold darling of the ASX was :-
$33.10 on 31/12/07
$33.89 on 31/12/08.

GOLD, ASX was $9599 on 31/12/07
$12451 on 31/12/08.

And the winner is GOLD !

Of course this simple comparison doesn't take into a/c an fundamentals that may have been occuring wiyh Newcrest at the time.

I'll hang on and take some huge profits from FML for now, and just b4 the crash I'll switch to GOLD,ASX. Simple, lol
