why do women want to be men?, page-136

Hi misty ... methinks women like men are individuals and their 'wants' are many and varied regarding the workplace or anything else.

Methinks mankind needs to remember the lesson of history and how we got to this advanced state ... the HUMAN RACE.

Men understand and are prepared for a 'life of work' and COMPETE AGAINST OTHER MEN which is the creative energy driving the advancement of all fields of human endeavour.

Men understand that 100% of them will join the race but as stats show only 5% will make it to the top of the tree ... a 'survival of the fittest' if you will.

Men in the lower percentile know their limit and accept their position generally and get on with their contribution to humankind and more generally, their family.

The 5% who do make it to the top are mostly sociopathic or worse and the fight is so cut-throat that life is RISKY AND TEMPORARY ... the continual COMPETITION demands only the FITTEST at any point in time.

Women at the top (e.g. Gail Kelly) are there because they worked and COMPETED with the men and if women generally draw inspiration from this then good. Get out and have a go ... if you don't get there, don't whinge and whine ... accept as everyone else does that you aren't part of the gifted 5%.

Men at the top know it is not glamorous (at my peak I had 200 working for me) and is exhausting and relenting. Steer a medium organisation through a recession keeping everyone employed for instance.

If anyone thinks we can as a civilisation simply abandon COMPETITION for some other WARM HUGGY COOPERATIVE ALL INCLUSIVE model then it might sound nice but it is no panacea for the challenges facing the planet now.

Women generally are applauding the recent public debate concerning 'legislating' gender percentages for appointments to Boards. They should be outraged simply because the very concept is simply patronising and will only now (as in most other ways) simply DOWNGRADE the very positions women seek.

We might better expend our energies in unraveling the last nonsense ... that of 'political correctness' ... a Marxist repression of free-speech that all but stymied the ability of governments/corporations to function efficiently for a decade.

In many ways today, we don't SOLVE problems ... we MANAGE them. e.g. literacy/numeracy in our schools. We import loads of 457's because they have the education/training Corporations want. And we quietly up the welfare for the disaffected in the name of social cohesion.

    Cheers ... tight stops.
