Muzza, Dank, et al... Personally I respect any politician(s) that deserve to win. But we rarely see it. Maybe Howard once - the time he got the GST through, Hawk/Keating once or twice and that covers the last 40yrs. I am terrified at what Abbott will/won't do as he's coasting along on the incompetence of the incumbents. He has the makings of a wishy washy Gillard/Rudd - should be impossible but it's not. Look at Baillieu in VIC - most notable thing he's done is sent a farming mate's cattle to trample a national park - and he fell into power.
Solution: Abolish states except for cricket, tiddlywinks etc
Increase Fed term to 4 yrs.
Make voting optional and for those who can spot a worthwhile name on the ballot, make preferential voting optional too.
btw - I'm reasonably into BTA (slightly down, excluding the cap return), but will be buying up when market corrects (don't expect BTA to be severely affected in any correction).
