    Its a good point rivrhut, but the article did say "Chancellor Angela Merkel's government says Germany will replace its reliance on nuclear power by increasing renewable energy sources after Japan's Fukushima disaster." If there is a will there is a way and the German's are probably the people who can do it. Maybe they can get their power from the Desertec project - concentrating solar thermal power (CSP) plants exporting the power from North Africa to Europe using HVDC lines.
