You say that Electricity can easily be generated from non-carbon sources.

The problem is that all of those sources are much more costly than carbon sources.

Even with the first set of carbon prices coming up, those non-carbon sources are more costly.

If Australia does this alone, all we will achieve is an export of our energy intensive business off shore. It wont do anything to the world carbon count but will cost Australian jobs.

There is no scientific justification nor economic justification for Australia to be so silly.
