Totally agree with your assessment Flyboy. PL/MM are not the mine builder types. I see PL as an Anthony Sage. They both worked together previously and I see the natural acquirer of these resources as Xstrata, with Anglo down the list.
It is just the price that is obviously the sticking point. :-)
