"Government Approval for Whicher Range Joint Research Project - 25th June, 2010

A joint research project on the Whicher Range reservoir has received formal Government approval and will be funded by the State of Western Australia via the Geological Survey of Western Australia. The objective of the study is to undertake a detailed reservoir characterisation to better understand the production potential of the Whicher Range reservoir. The Government funding for the study will be in the order of $750,000 The joint study participants are Whicher Range Energy and WA:ERA comprising, Curtin University, University of Western Australia and CSIRO.
The Managing Director of Whicher Range Energy, Peter Mills, commented ?the formal approval for funding of the joint study is a significant endorsement of the importance of tight gas reserves in Western Australia, and an excellent example of industry and academia working together towards a common goal. This research will progress the understanding of the Whicher Range field and assist in developing this significant gas resource in Western Australia.?
