Agreed birdmanz ... the Chinese govt and people are driven ... the Qld Govt is cruising, either ignoring or blissfully unaware of the inevitable power shortage looming in their own state, let alone the entire eastern seaboard of Australia.
There will be recriminations over the coming 5-10 yrs imo.
The Chinese Govt to their credit are powering up their country to be at the forefront of energy supply for the coming decades and have their eyes wide open for all opportunities.
It is distressing to watch Australia, led by Qld, ignoring future energy security needs.
Without cheap efficient power, we are most definitely not the lucky country.
The Qld Govt is particularly blinkered because they have a significant coal and gas royalties base in the decades ahead ... I wonder how much will be spent funding domestic energy needs as several centuries of national coal and gas energy security is being exported over the next 30 years ?
