Re your post which included;
"... UNLIKE FDERAL LABOR there were no major back flips or taxes."
IMO Fed Labor is guilty of backflipping as alleged! Otherwise your statement is oh so wrong I'm afraid:
. Ted Bailleau promised that Vic. teachers would be the best paid in Australia - jettisoned almost immediately.
. Tonight's bombshell that $Millions are to be ripped out of public schools courtesy of the massive cut to the school start allowance [used by most parents to pay school levies / fees that now will not be paid by many parents] - apparently to enable the increase in spending on independent schools. [no mention of this B4 the election btw]
. The doubling of State debt - at no stage did Ted advertise that he would do that B4 the election!
. The deferment of what has been renamed the 'debt management plan' - delivery was promised by no later than the Budget.
. Kim Well's magic line that public service costs will be reduced but staff numbers will increase - bring it on Kim!
. As yet un-named but mooted infrastructure works planned by the previous Govt. that will not see the light of day [also not mentioned prior to the election].
IMO we are already seeing the same tired old divisive, class based assault by another lazy reactionary Government. My bet is that we'll see the sale of more Govt. assets - more public school closures, more road tolls, further privatisation of the energy grid & rail services.
Maybe Ted & Kim will stabilise the risks Vic. faces: 'stop the floods', 'stop the fires', 'stop the droughts' & 'stop the crime' perhaps. Oops, of course that was Bracks & Brumby who instituted measures designed to reduce crime & to drought-proof the State.
Just watch them squirm if real estate values ease & home sales slow ... IMO they already look like a one term government [if they can maintain that wafer-thin majority for another 3.5 years that is].
