starting a small portfolio - thoughts?, page-19

Thanks one and all for your reply's, I must say I wasn't expecting this many replies so soon, so thank you for taking the time to respond.

I appreciate the warnings to be careful - I know that these are speculative at best, and I am prepared to lose on them all to a extent - with these shares, my philosophy is that if only 1-2 'make it' I should come out in front. If say 3-4 do I will be quite smug. Of the $15,000 I am prepared to 'risk' only 10%

I do use stops, and in the last few years I have come out in front on all my trades - though because of my conditional orders I have come out less in front then I could have, but you can only risk what you are prepared to lose.

Because I only have a relatively small start up amount, it has meant that my thinking is towards slightly more riskier trades - I know it is risky, but that is why I will use conditional orders and have pre determined stops.

I have never looked at Hot Copper or any other Stock Market forums before I joined today. I have also joined up to 'Top Stocks', but have been told that this forum is the pick of the two :)

I look forward to hearing others opinions on this thread!
