The Ministry of Health in India is demonstrating serious commitment to the roll out of telehealth and telemedecine. The govenment is piloting several projects to increase the use of Telemedicine as integral part of its health program.

Numerous projects have seen the light with significant funding pledged to their delivery.

SMS based reporting of health survailllance data
National medical college : Rs 60 crore (approximately $13.3 million)
A regional cancer centre to facilitate the use of telemedecine in the treatment of cancer: Rs 1.43 crore (approximately $320000)
Teleophtamology Rs 3.37 crore (approximately $750000)
Funded telemedecine demonstration projects in 8 states of India.
