Tax is $35k for a couple earning $150k or $46k if one earning. Lets assume one earning - leaves $104k net or $8,667 a month.

If they have only a $50k deposit when earning $150k they obviously have not been saving very hard, but WBC website say just over $3k a month leaving about $5,600 a month free cash.

Tolls - take the bus or avoid them
House insurance $50 a month
Electricity,gas water $200 a month
Phone internet $100 a month
Child care not needed as stay at home Dad/Mum
Food $800 a month
Rates $100 a month
Music lesson $250 a month, one for each kid
School fees - what's wrong with the local public school. My kids go there

A further $1,900 leaving $3,700 a month to spend on everything else. Looks like loads of money to me.

Oh and plenty of decent suburbs with homes for $500k

Oh and dont forget you $20 a week for the carbon tax :-;
