If you held from March 2009 - October 2009 you would have made 40 times your investment!!
(Though I agree with what you are saying in that if you wait to try and time every run out there you can end up losing more by buying and selling everything waiting for that magic take off, and if you wait to get on board after the run, even a couple of days wait can miss you a good part of the run up, and often there are significant gains made by the insider push prior and the gap up once the cat is out of the bag)
