If I can be honest here, I always try to stay away from the political nonsense because that has always been an icky topic to me, so my political knowledge isn't that great.
Malaysia have protests time to time, but they have been fairly small. The government just carry out their decisions despite the protest, this usually result in a loss in the polls but they can afford to suffer since they are still the majority power. (Notable examples: Fuel price hikes)

Yes, but they would just brush it off saying that the expert panel is "pro-nuclear".
