BOB Davis was the genial face of the Geelong Football Club for the best part of 50 years.
He was a dual premiership player and captain and, from 1963-2007, the club's most recent premiership coach.
More than that, he was a local businessman, a local identity, a Geelong institution.
In addition to his handsome playing record, he was a household name throughout Victoria courtesy of Channel 7's famous Sunday program, World of Sport, and his various partnerships with Lou Richards and Jack Dyer.
Everyone loved Bobby Davis. He had credibility and warmth. He enjoyed people, enjoyed talking to people, and loved talking about himself. He was entitled to. Davis was a member of Geelong's team of the century and an inaugural member of the AFL's Hall of Fame.
