Also yesterday, ConocoPhillips relaunched its application for approval to drill up to eight exploration wells in the Browse Basin. /p pConocoPhillips#39; original application to the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities late last year ran into the headwind of more stringent approval assessments sparked by the Montara and Macondo oil spills. /p p The department originally ruled that ConocoPhillips#39; Browse drilling proposal should be assessed as a controlled action, prompting the US major to withdraw and submit a new application yesterday that contained more information on the criteria, including containment policies in the event of a spill. /p pPublic submissions about ConocoPhillips#39; application close at the end of this month. /p
