"WORK on the Yongah Hill Detention Centre just west of Northam is picking up.
Some remarked the clearing of about 30 hectares would not be a speedy process with a Caterpillar D6 bulldozer being used.
However this has been completed and the visual impact of the clearing has surprised many, including Department of Immigration and Citizenship officers.
Tenders have now closed for the head contract and these are currently being assessed by the project manager GHD.
An announcement of the successful tenderer is expected by mid-May.
