thumbs up versus shields, page-9

  1. 17,117 Posts.
    les,
as a matter of interest, I note I have over 12,000 odd posts, plus there are other posters with higher numbers...but all of these are without the shields ????

when I checked the reason for shields, it purely stated on the number of posts, but 'click here for more information' which did not work

so Mike was correct when he stated it was simply based only on the number of the posts,
with no criteria for content or any other criteria...
I like many of you have to read thru hundreds of posts, by hundreds of posters, only to find many are low value, low content....but thats how the internet is...
in some cases a poster provides exceptional value in whatever he or she posts....and thats where the thumbs up or stars were value....and saved my time

I fear some posters may believe I am indirectly directing my post to them.....that is not the case at all....
I post to the general public or viewer...

I prefer not to direct my posts to specific posters, except for when I give appraisal for a good post, or I decide to answer a question raised, or directed to me...

generally, I do not answer questions, I dont want to become bogged down in a Q & A excercise, as it uses up too much time, and too many posts, as on this forum where they are numbered...
a simplification for my presence on here, is to throw darts at the wall, for a GOOD reason...in order to engage readers, to encourage greater thinking on important issues, and to encourage feedback, obtain other peoples views on the topic...
and to think outside the square we live in....to engage a wider scope of views, to listen to alternative points of view....on the subject, or topic in question...
I am not really interested in engaging in arguments, for the sake of same....
I am interested in human nature, conditioning processes, sociology, reasoning and thought processes etc...
humans are funny , and complex creatures ...

I really admire very intelligent people...
'but I dont suffer fools gladly'
(which was a very popular saying, back in the old days)
    so dont take it personally
