Eventually I would guess he will return to the labor party that he originally came from, there is certainly a spot for leadership of the labor party coming up when gillard gets dumped, possibly in a few weeks...
I would guess that the shadowy backroom union bossed who own and control the labor party have decided that turnbull is best to stay in the liberal party for now to undermine Tony Abbott and continue with his ongoing media campaign of liberal policy sabotage...
I would guess that for these shadowy backroom union bosses to engage in such an obvious campaign sabotage via turnbull, that they must be in a real bed-wetting panic, maybe as bad a panic as Tony Abbott induced in these backroom union bosses when faced with the prospect of the incompetent and failed rudd having to face the highly popular Rhodes Scholar Tony Abbott in an election...
As you may recall, this blind bedwetting panic that Tony Abbot induced in the union bosses at that stage resulted in an unforced error in the catastrophic soviet-jackboot-style-political-assassination of rudd and his replacement by the even more incompetent, unsuitable and deeply unpopular socialist ideologue gillard...
rudd was certainly bad, but he was an absolute genius and star performer compared with the completely incompetent and failed socialist gillard...
