How is the currently discussed European patent different from the core IP which is described below in the SCE report? Isn't that more relevant, and already granted?

"The intellectual property behind the Anteo Surface Technology is covered by six published patent applications where the earliest priority date is late 2000 and the most relevant patent application, for the combinatorial chemistry aspect of the technology, has a priority date of 2002. This means that while most US and European patents are still pending, Anteo?s core technology has basic patent protection out to 2022."
