They have not been shown to work anywhere in the world where a similar situation to Australian exists.

Windmill farms, the 15th century technology so loved by the lefties, have been shown to be expensive white elephants that are not capable of producing reliable power.

It makes no sense, except as a cash-grab by a greedy government intent of changing the social structure of Australia to on more suitable to their election strategies, to attempt to force companies, by punative and arbitrary taxation, at adopt unworkable and impractical "alternatives".

Companies that can will respond simply by moving portions of their operations offshore, probably to China that has already signalled that it is not interested in crippling their economy with this carbon tax stupidity as has most other major economies by rejecting any extention of the failed and useless Kyoto Protocol.

Other companies will respond by elimnating or product lines or outsourcing operations that can be assessed as having an arbitrary and taxable carbon footprint, to other companies, most likely to direct imports from China.

Industries are based on economics and return on investment. Entire industries that find the roi is no longer attractive to them or their finance providers will close or re-locate to non carbon taxing, more industry friendly offshore locations.

Those companies that can, will just pass the cost onto the consumer with their usual profit margin tacked on...

The larger companies with teams of innovative accountants and lawyers will find ways to submerge and obscur this process of passing the cost onto consumers and make no changes except for a few "cosmetic" changes for image making purposes, with maybe a few potemkin solar cells placed in strategic locations, much as China does to placate nosey and uninformed leftists.

After all this entire gillard-carbon-tax-cach-grab is more about a massive re-ordering of Autralian society and a massive cash-grab to fill the coffers of a wasteful and incompetent government to allow them to enrich cronies and continue to hugely expensive white-elephant rort-filled "mega-projects" of dubious merit.

A convenient and cosmetic cover for this blatant cash-grab is "save the environment" in algore-style...


If you care about the future of Australia look to the examples of countries that have tried this nonsensical greenie path and retreated.

Spain is a good example where they find that for every greenie job created at massive expense, something like 4 real jobs are lost
