I wouldn't want to be thought of as grasping at straws, God knows we've done enough of that in years gone by, but thinking about this some more....firstly, the fact of the announcement is, IMO, significant.

Secondly, the content and wording is interesting..."Colt is working with MST to evaluate the possible manufacture of MAUL as a KEY COMPONENT of a POTENTIAL relationship between the two companies."

So possible manufacturing of MAUL is a key compnent - what are the other key components?

    A few come to mind.

Then...."Colt and MST are working together to evaluate manufacturing options for MAUL and RELATED PRoDUCTS."

'Related products' being...? Related to MAUL specifically, or the broader-based MST technology?

Finally...."Colt's recent plant modernisation program makes it ideally suited to the manufacture of an advanced weapon like the MAUL."

    'Ideally suited?"

I wouldn't for a moment suggest that Colt's recent modernisation program had anything to do with MST per se, however the fact that it's been done and is in place could be a case of Colt, who for 160 years have been at the vanguard of weapons technology, are now wanting to source more advanced product or additional products to take up capacity.

It's a bit like miners - to maintain their position in the market, let alone grow, when they dig something out of the ground they have to replace it with more greenfield projects, or acquisitions, or they go out of business.

All in all, reading between the lines as we must, seems to me there is more to this, and that Colt and MST are further down the track, than might at first glance be apparent.

If that IS the case, big IF I know, are MST in similar discussions with any other 'interested parties' as Lee recently stated? IF so, then we could end up in a kind of bidding war for licensing/manufacturing rights. IF not, then maybe, just maybe, Colt is the answer to our long-held prayers.
