spp participation from nz

Does anyone out there know the easiest and cheapest way to participate in the SPP if you are from New Zealand and only have a New Zealand bank account? I was thinking about asking one of the banks to write an Aussie bank cheque which would no doubt incur bank cheque and forex fees. However I note that the sample application form states "only cheques or bank drafts in Australian dollars and drawn on a bank or financial institution in Australia will be accepted". Obviously most NZ banks are Aussie owned, but I would guess that Westpac NZ for example would not count as a bank in Australia.

Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Going to have a chat to the banks about this next week, but thought someone here may know more than the banks do as their staff often aren't the most knowledgeable.
