I would assume that they'd b running an LWD tool to pick up any changes in the drilling fluid properties.

The GC should pick up the gas-peaks/ breakdowns as indicated by any corresponding drill-breaks.

These together should give an idea of any shows initially, for the secondary target (v r dealing with interbedded sands, so will come down to the 'net' thickness eventually).

U know the rest of the drill, b4 running 9" casing the operator runs WL logs for the open section, b4 putting these safely behind the steel & chk the cement bond/ integrity etc b4 drilling the 8.5" section.

Std procedure in the oil-patch :)
