PP,
discussions about averages are a complete furphies.
Impossible to have average when the physical characteristics of the mined material is a combination of mineral and malleable metal. There are basically two ores to be mined, one is a metal, the other an ore. There may be an arithmetic average percent Cu, but totally irrelevant. Better if "average" must be considered, think in two terms, an average NCu, and an average everything else.
Your statement "its possible they were selected in order to test the recoveries of a specific type of ore." ...is what its all about.
People should forget about the JORC henceforth, only the DFS and ML matter now. (Wilgar is cream with a cherry on top, but not part of this discussion about Las Minerales).
Regarding the 1.7% comment, I suspect it was tongue in cheek - meaning failing to get the JORC number average out of the Jewelry Box, would indeed cause more grimaces than a simple tongue in cheek.
