I'll elaborate a little on my reason for excluding Africa. Yes Africa is a continent made up of many different countries but we all saw how porous those borders were once a disgruntled Tunisian fruit seller set himself on fire in protest against the Gman. The nature of the crisis is changing and it is becoming global because it involves the global reserve currency. For this reason I prefer Asian, South American and to a slightly lesser extent European operations.

I?ve excluded Australia specifically because of the MRRT and the strong Aussie dollar. Interestingly and as an aside I notice some bright spark has set up a gold EFT which uses currency forwards to strip out the effect of AUD movements meaning Aussie investors can gain exposure to the same relative movements in the gold price that US investors can. QAU is the ticker.
