hanrahan.
I started with 18k and used common sense AND I BOUGHT AS SOON AS I COULD AFFORD IT.
I didn't wait for a crash or the BIG ONE! Many of my mates in the same situation, same wage if not more are renting not saved a dime or lost and/or evaporatad any said savings on the ASX.
I drive a second hand car (never owned a new one), dont have an iphone was the last one to get plasma etc etc.
I apply the 50s methodology to saving and did so to buy a house.
When I bought, the loan was 110k and a sickening 4 times my then (main) wage. (this was a cheap ugly home in the upcoming area of chelsea vic at the time).
I was a battler and still am IMHO because I am not rich (whats rich anyway, I AM HAPPY so thats enough), and if you bears are correct may one day go down big time!
cheers
