Fw, in our area building costs are still fairly high because of demand after the floods, although it is starting to weaken a little. In another six months could be a different story. Already one friend has had quotes for the same extension ranging as low as $130k, up to $250k.

The big advantages of building are that you can get exactly what you want, and you can ensure the quality is good. But atm, the premium for that is too high.

Mind you, having said all that, there is a 15acre block, cleared, dams, bores etc for under $1m - could build a great house for $500k to $600k, and still come in under the price of a 5.5 acre block with a deluxe house for $1.7m, farther out from cbd .........

If only CEL would get a move on, I could just do it!
