I'll go one futher than my last post.
I unreservedly apologise to any SH's who may have taken it that I have made light of their concerns regarding the SP. That was not my intent in the appalling interplay I have indulged in with some posters. I saw it as an aside to the main game, harmless banter, part of the "Wonderful world of HC".
I've leant a lot from posting here including the fears of people who see their hard earned going up in smoke...please be aware that in some ways they mirror the fears of the TO's. They have alot at stake here too.
I only wish that I could suggest a "win win" scenerio. Unforunately I just don't think that that is going to be the case.
The whole situation is an effing mess. It should never have got to this, and the small SH's are not to blame. Nor are the TO's. Governments and some listed companies need to get their shit together. GOT need to tell you what's going on. That part of the dynamic in my opinion is a disgrace, so too the shoddy performance of the NT Govt who shower EL's around like confetti.
My message to GOT is: communicate with your SH's, and forget any spin, I don't think they'd believe you in any case. Bring this matter to a head ASAP. Confront the cultural and environmental lobbies head on and in doing so avoid any rhetoric that they can be accomodated.
I just want to point out that when this matter is ultimately resolved, whatever the outcome, it will forever alter the the post-colonial landscape in this counry and the processes by which these alterations occur. The significance, of whatever the outcome, goes well beyond just the interests of GOT and its share holders and the Traditional Owners of the Groote Archipelago.
In future I'll post relevant information as it comes to hand and attempt to clear up any misconceptions and confusion about process and the situation on Groote. I'll also post about any matters of cultural significance as they apply to this issue.
I think that we all need to recognise that the process of bringing all this to a head will be a long and drawn out saga..probably with many twists and turns. There will be no quick resolution. We will be looking at years, not weeks or months.
