There is internet, skype, phones, sat phones, crew changes and any number of ways for info to make it's way off the rig... no evidence on the close assuming that really was the last chance to get in or out before we all know...
As for the announcement tomorrow - there will be one as Thursday is the scheduled day. As the LWD is more or less instant and is normally sent to town in real time I think that they will have enough info in the morning to put out a "substantial" announcement. Maybe not all the fine detail and analysis but certainly oil or no oil and at what depth the oil-water contact.
Either way we may have as little as 15-1/2 hours to wait if they decide to announce before the open.
