Wash selling while it maybe illegial. Is pretty rife within the market. If fact it is soo prevlent this time of year can be seen to move the market. You could argue it was a market play being that you sold hoping the price would drop down and if not you had locked in you buy price. Which if you planned not to increase your hold would be a reasonable play.
