The Board, let alone new arivals on the Board have little to do with the predicament this Company finds itself in.
I've worked in gold mines as a Geo for a fair while now, there are always a myriad of reasons and arguments presented if a Resource underforms, but rarely are arguments put forward for not mining it in the first place.
These pits are small, spotty oxide deposits that are almost impossible to make money from with A1's fast tracked approach. Think about it, you're talking about using a shovel the width of your lounge room to mine something that's probably hosted in a vein the width of your finger. It's all in the scale. If the gold aint' where it was supposed to be, you can find out pretty quickly that you don't have a gold mine.
Would you tell the market this? Of course not!! They don't need to know minor details like that!!
Couple that with a bit of artistic licence during the modeling phase, "..a few high-grade hits from here joined up with those over there", and hey presto!.. we have ourselves an ore body about as believable as an OJ Simpson testimony.
It's a horrible situation to be in for a Company to discover that its main bread winnner is a potential flea-ridden dog. You can't just park your excavator and trucks up while you drill another 10,000m to join all the little dots together. Once started, the monolith has to keep rolling. The contractor wants his tonnes. He doesn't care whether he trucks ore or waste, he'll get paid all the same. It is a very heartless and uncompromising game at the best of times.
