I love saying hello (name from name tag) when out and about at check out registers. I even comment "I would say hello your name, but it appears you don't have your name tag on today". You then get the usual comment "i left it at home, i hate wearing it and people knowing my name when i don't know theirs etc.." I think it is a convo ice breaker really, it's just awkward to stand there and not have a bit of chit chat.

Facial expressions are the best though, especially when you surprise them into thinking you actually know them but they don't know you. That look of... "errrmmm do I know you" expression is a classic.

But the best of all is when you see a nice looking girl and you comment on their smile... which results in very red blushingly, can't hold the giggles back facial expression is priceless. Love it.
