Why is it that whenever socialism has gained power it's first agenda is to stifle, frustrate, and even restrict free speech, when free speech has been the very channel that has gained them that power.

Decades ago I knew that if I wanted to pass a uni subject I had to reluctantly follow the lecturers position, otherwise I, and my colleages, would simply fail the subject.
