this letter shows how we have totally lost touch with reality. Any animal other than a human can, and therefore will be seen as just dollar signs. It shows that when it comes to a decision between humane slaughter and money - money wins. I'm a meat eater, I've worked in an abbotoir - so I'm not squeamish about slaughter. But slaughter must be carried out with humanity no matter what the cost - if we want to continue to eat animals. Humaneness is important not just for the animal - but for the human psyche as well.
