Most importantly, Siemens is embarking on commercialisation of 3MW direct drive wind turbine which would be immensely helped by the efficiency increase achieved by the Nd based magnets. That reduces the size for an increase in power output which in turn reduces the noise which is a big factor in objections to install wind turbines.
My present boss, I and my colleague in previous company have all worked with Siemens and know first hand how thorough they would be in their work.
They would drive NC if he doesn't deliver on promises.
To me this is a very good achievement. Probably first time I started respecting NC and believe he is working for his pay/performance bonuses.
