in my own experience a buyback is good for putting a floor under the SP but rarely translates into a meaningful SP appreciation
sometimes companies announce a buyback to support the SP psychologically but don't follow through with actual purchases
to sum up i see the buyback as a neutral impact on SP while giving it a certain support (floor), the company's fundamentals should do the rest
